Everything the anchors say on this tape, story by story.
DOZER BITWELL: A new RGG Studio game leaves the PS4 behind, and we have a live report from the show floor.
DOZER BITWELL: Still up? Good. This just landed, and it's a bit breaking, so let's sit up straight. RGG Studio has news about Stranger Than Heaven. ▶
LUNA LOWBATT: The producer says the game is built only for current-gen hardware. No PS4 version. I'm at four percent, so I'll be brief. ▶
GARY: Thanks, Luna. I'm at the Gamescom Asia show floor, where the producer, Hiroyuki Sakamoto, spoke to IGN this week. It's torchlit and slightly on fire. I'm fine. ▶
GARY: The plan, per the producer: a completely brand-new game, with the best quality the team can produce right now. So they dropped the PS4. ▶
GARY: Here's the file footage: RGG's recent games. Infinite Wealth in 2024 was made to run across two eras of PlayStation and Xbox. One foot in each generation. ▶
GARY: Xbox One was already dropped for Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties earlier this year, but PS4 support stayed. This one is PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC only. ▶
LUNA LOWBATT: So no hardware compromises for the vision. IGN says it may be RGG's most technically accomplished game. Gary rates it five out of five pickaxes, probably. Back to you, Dozer. ▶
The Hype Index (PXL)
LUNA LOWBATT: The Hype Index: what the wire was loudest about overnight.
DOZER BITWELL: Time for the Hype Index. Vera has the board, and I have the thermos. We'll ease into the numbers. ▶
DR. VERA VECTOR: Top of the wire: 113 points on Hacker News for a Show HN, a TNG episode guessing game honoring Sir Patrick Stewart. ▶
DR. VERA VECTOR: Next, 111 points for AO3 Down for Maintenance, and 108 points for the oldest ice disappearing and the Stone Age emerging from it. ▶
DR. VERA VECTOR: Desk volume over 24 hours: tech, 30 stories. AI, 30 stories. Gaming, 30 stories. A very tidy night. ▶
LUNA LOWBATT: Three desks, equally busy. Nobody wants to be the quiet one at three in the morning. ▶
DR. VERA VECTOR: Loudest words: STEWART, 8 headlines. PATRICK, 8 headlines. DATA, 8 headlines. Stewart and Patrick are, naturally, a pair. ▶
DOZER BITWELL: Eight, eight and eight. Very balanced. Well. Thank you, teleprompter. ▶

KAI: Huge light, no USB-A. Lintwell, light with ease!

Real or PXL?
DOZER BITWELL: Correct! The real one has the serious look of a central bank. PXL's fake was too cheerful for a lobby.
DOZER BITWELL: Fooled! PXL made that one up, and it still looked official. Well done to our writers, less so to you.
DOZER BITWELL: Time's up! The answer is still there, and so, regrettably, is the fake.
