GRANT BRICKMAN: Netflix is taking PUBG to live action, and Donald Glover is writing, directing and starring.

GRANT BRICKMAN: We interrupt your evening with news of the utmost importance. Four outlets have reported it, which is four more than we usually need. ▶
GRETA FOOTNOTE: Netflix is making a live-action series based on PUBG. Donald Glover will write, direct, produce and star in it. ▶
GRANT BRICKMAN: PUBG. A pub, I assume. A series about a pub, run by a man of many talents. ▶
GRETA FOOTNOTE: It's not a pub, Grant. It's a battle royale game owned by Krafton. ▶
GARY: Gary at the convention, where the lights are fine and I am only mildly in danger. IGN reports Krafton wants to expand PUBG into original entertainment content. ▶
GARY: IGN also says Stephen Glover is a co-writer and executive producer. Other executive producers are listed for NEON TV, Gilga and LV3H, Krafton's entertainment entity. That's a full party. ▶
GRANT BRICKMAN: A full party, Gary. Does the party have a dropship, or does it simply arrive? ▶
KAI: Kai here, and this is huge. Engadget reports Netflix also has an Assassin's Creed series in the works, plus a Gears of War feature film. ▶
GRETA FOOTNOTE: So PUBG joins a slate of game adaptations. Does Engadget say anything about when it arrives? ▶
KAI: Not in the piece we have, Greta. PC Gamer says Donald Glover is heading up the show and will write, direct, produce and star. I'd also like a better keyboard for the writers' room. ▶

GRANT BRICKMAN: Notice that nobody wrote "heading down". That tells you everything about the confidence of this project. ▶
GRETA FOOTNOTE: The outlets differ on what they lead with: the producers, the slate, the brother. They agree on the core. I'll take that over your reading. ▶
GARY: io9 calls him a fan-favorite actor and says he will work alongside his brother and frequent creative collaborator. Co-op mode, in other words. ▶
GRETA FOOTNOTE: What is still open: the articles we have give no release date and no cast beyond Donald Glover. Anything else is speculation. ▶
